To quote the prolific Paul Harvey, here is the rest of the story. I told you about Paul Mercer being honored on Veteran’s Day at the OKC Thunder game. Well, it turned out to be more of an honor than I even understood. Paul was chosen as the Thunder’s “Hero of the Game." He was nominated for this honor and notified about three weeks before the game. He and his wife got a tour of the PayCom Center where all the pregame activities take place, got to sit on the Thunder bench before the game to watch the players warm-up, and had their own escort throughout the evening. Paul was given six tickets to the game, so he was able to have four family members attend with Lou Anne and him. Paul said the whole night was amazing and very surreal. Congratulations to Paul, one of Stroud’s own, on receiving this show of appreciation for his service to our country.
The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) held their monthly meeting. Another one of Stroud’s own, Diana Carroll McGuire, ALA President, received an honor from Kim McInnis, State ALA President. All ALA members who had paid their dues by a certain date were put in a drawing to receive a lifetime membership from ALA. Thirteen hundred names were placed in a hopper for one name to be drawn to receive the prize. Diana McGuire's name was chosen. She received a certificate for a lifetime membership that was valued at over $900.
Congratulations to Diana for being the winner.
I told you the concrete had been poured for the pavilion at the cemetery. I gave you the wrong information.
The dirt work is in progress for the foundation but the concrete has not yet been poured. I will keep you updated (correctly lol).
Stroud has had its share of sorrow these past couple of weeks as we lost three people dear to our community.

Long-time Stroud resident Ricky Weeks passed away on November 14th. Ricky graduated from Prague High School in 1974.
