December is just around the corner and with it comes lots of Christmas festivities. To kick things off there will be an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Come to the Route 66 Pavilion on December 4th at 5:45 p.m., right before the Christmas parade. You may pre-register with Shelly Dunn at Stroud Cleaners. Categories are infant – 12 years of age and 13 years of age to adult. The rules are it must be Christmas themed and no profanity may be on the sweater. First prize is $50 cash. There will also be refreshments and entertainment at the Pavilion beginning at 5:30 p.m. After the contest, stay and enjoy the parade which begins at 6:00 p.m.
Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers at Stroud’s Food Pantry. They put in lots of hours to keep things running smoothly. Make a note that the last distribution of the year will be December 14th.
Happy birthday to my dear friend Ann Rogers who celebrates her birthday this week. A celebration was held this past Saturday at the Senior Citizens Center hosted by her family. Relatives came from as far away as California to share in this occasion. Guests are still trying to figure out if it was her 18th or 81st birthday. No one seemed to be able to get Ann to help solve this dilemma.
The City of Stroud has a gorgeous new “big” Christmas tree in Ed. Smalley Centennial Park. When you’re downtown be sure to drive by and check it out. I think there is going to be a special tree lighting ceremony. I’ll try to keep you posted as to when that will take place. It’s another great new Christmas decoration for our community and visitors to enjoy.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Be sure and take your guests for a ride around town and show them all the wonderful improvements that have been made in Stroud. As always, remember to shop and dine local……………….first.
