Thank you to everyone who came out to play miniature golf this weekend at Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66.
We appreciate the support. Not only did we have lots of local golfers, but we also had a family from Bristow who made a special trip to play with us. In addition to miniature golf we have horseshoes, corn hole, golf chipping, Connect Four and several table games.
These games are included in the price of your golf game, or you can pay for them separately. We also have ice cold Johnny Freezes available for purchase.
These are flavored ice treats, much like a snocone, and are so delicious. Great to cool off after an invigorating game of mini golf.
Town Talk welcomes a new business to Stroud, Guz-man Reliable Flooring.
It’s a new flooring store located at 310 North 8th Avenue (Highway 99) which was the former home of Parker’s Pawn Shop.
They offer the newest types and styles of flooring in their showroom. Stop by and see what they have to offer. They provide free estimates.
The word on the street is that we have young entrepreneurs operating a lemonade stand on West 7th Street.
Their product is made from fresh squeezed “real” lemons along with “real” sugar.
If you drive down 7th, I’m sure you’ll spot it. It’s called Eli’s Lemonade and a glass sells for $1.00. Stop by and support their effort.
I’m sure that takes many of us back to our childhood days.

I received word this morning that JR Owens, graduate of Stroud High School Class of 1967, has died. JR has been battling cancer.
He was the son of the late Junior and Glenda Owens Rains and brother to the late Deanna Owens Wright. JR was a big supporter of all things Stroud and donated to many of our projects.
He was a kind and generous man and was my neighbor on 8th Street when we were both growing up in Stroud. JR was loved by all and stayed in touch with many of his classmates who I know will greatly miss him. Services are currently pending.
Town Talk offers heartfelt condolences to JR’s wife and family.
I can’t close this week’s article without giving a big Town Talk birthday shoutout to my husband, Larry Reed, who will celebrate his birthday June 30th.
I couldn’t ask for a more perfect husband for being supportive of the time I spend helping my hometown along with a million other wonderful attributes he possesses.
He’s also a great Town Talk Trivia Master. Larry is an Arkansas guy, but I think I’ll claim him for Stroud.
Fireworks stands are up and running in Stroud and for a week or so we have temporary local merchants we can shop with and stock up on our firecrackers. Shop Stroud, Shop Local – it is very much appreciated.
Have a great week.
