Town Talk

Town Talk sends out a great big thank you to all the veterans who came out Saturday night to enjoy the Andrew Sisters tribute concert. It was just one way the Auxiliary could say “thank you for your service.” Thanks, also, to all community members who came out to enjoy the performance and say “thank you” to our veterans.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Stroud, Oklahoma. Main Street has lots of elves in place to help us celebrate the holiday season, and store windows are painted with Christmas scenes. Mark your calendars now to attend the tree lighting ceremony. This is an event for the whole family to enjoy. The lighting will take place this Friday, November 17th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Ed. Smalley Centennial Park. Stores will be open, vendors will be set up along Main Street and there will be kids’ crafts at the pavilion.

The Stroud American Legion Auxiliary is still accepting donations to purchase wreaths to honor our veterans this Christmas. Their goal is to place a wreath on every veteran’s grave at the Stroud Cemetery. These wreaths will be used next year and for several years to come. For a $20 donation you may purchase two wreaths. There are close to 800 veterans buried at our cemetery. Wreaths will be placed on the graves on December 16th which the Auxiliary has designated as Wreaths Across Stroud Day. They are asking the community to participate and help with the laying of the wreaths. You may mail your check made out to ALA to Treasurer Cindy Mason at 426 South 10th Avenue, Stroud, Oklahoma 74079 or contact me at 918-527-9833.
