Trystan Baker ran for 195 yards and a score Friday, as Stroud flexed its offensive muscle and blanked Casady, 42-0.
Stroud rushed for 302 yards and led 36-0 at the half. With the win, the Tigers moved to 7-1 on the season and 5-0 in district, setting up the district game of the year on Friday, when the Hennessey Eagles come to Stroud. Hennessey is 5-0 in district, as well, and the winner will be district champion. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Baker ran 41 yards for a touchdown to make the score 14-0 in the first quarter and never slowed down.
“He had his highest rushing yardage of the year,” Stroud coach Josh Presley said. “That’s kind of the way we roll - with the hot hand - and that’s something we were able to take advantage of.
“He was breaking tackles right and left, but we had some pretty good holes for him to run through at the same time.”
Jacob Beck ran for three touchdowns and Aiden Collins scored a pair, with one coming on an interception that he took to the house.
The Tigers held Casady to 104 yards of total offense and recorded their third shutout of the season.
“Defensively, we played really well again,” Presley said. “Casady throws the ball around more than anyone we’ve seen all year and we did a good job with that all night long and got good pressure on the quarterback with our front three.
“Brandon McNeill, Trenton Stewart, London Ward, Chalin Morris did a good job putting pressure on him and the guys in the back did a good job on the receives and made it tough.”
Jacob Aylor and Baker led the defense with eight tackles each. Ward and Jessen Leathers had five each.
Now the Tigers’ attention turns to Hennessey, which is 6-2 for the season.
“They’re a well-coached football team,” Presley said. “They’re sound in all three phases of the game. “They have a tough running quarterback. He’s a good-sized kid and their main guy on offense.
“They’re big up front. They average between 250 and 280 and they want to run the ball and be physical.
“It might be tough for us to knock them off the football.”
