The Dale High School baseball team once again is headed into the state tournament after capturing a regional championship last weekend on its home field.
The Pirates will play their opener today against Morrison at 4 p.m. on Palmer Field at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City. If they prevail, they will take on the winner of a contest between Latta and Oktaha at 1:30 p.m. Friday on Palmer Field at Dolese Park.
If they make it to the championship contest, they will play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shawnee High School.
In their opening Regional contest on Saturday, they needed just 5 ½ innings to whip Rejoice Christian 13-3.
Eddie Jeffcoat’s Pirates pounded out 17 hits while Dale pitchers limited Rejoice Christian to just five.
Senior hurler Connor Kuykendall earned the win on the mound for the Pirates.
In their second game of the day, they bombarded Colbert 25-3 in 5½ innings. Three Dale pitchers limited Colbert to just three hits. JB Leaver got the pitching win.
Dale batters racked up 20 hits en route to the lopsided win.
In the championship game on Sunday, again playing Colbert, the Pirates needed just three innings for a 13-1 win.
The Pirates banged out 15 hits and Colbert managed only a single hit off Sophomore pitcher Dayton Forysthe, the winning pitcher.
