Drive-by parade at North Rock Creek

North Rock Creek’s teachers held a parade in reverse at the elementary school last week. The teachers stood on the sidewalk, holding placards and waving while the students and their families drove by, greeting their teachers from a socially acceptable distance.

J.L. Creacy chunks a plug into a tributary of the North Canadian River on Sunday while simultaneously keeping a lot of distance between himself and anyone else. Although the biting was slow, Creacy said he had caught several fish the last few days. “This is how I social distance,” he said.

Stroud school contruction continues

Construction on the old Stroud high school continues. The project started in October of last year and is projected to finish in August before the next school year starts. Stroud Superintendent Joe Van Tuyl said this building will be the new middle school.

McLoud School Foundation selects sixteen teacher grants

The McLoud School Foundation recently selected 16 grants totaling up to $12,000 that were submitted by teachers in McLoud Public Schools. The grant recipients will now be able to purchase a variety of educational supplies.

Kolache parade entries sought

Winter paid a visit over the weekend. A dusting of snow, temperatures well below shivering, ugly wind chills, roads slick enough to make a pickup fishtail. In fact, Saturday morning I thought I saw Matthew McConaughey trying to ice fish in a pond across the road.
