The Wellston Tigers moved the ball with ease Friday, piling up 551 yards of total offense and getting the first W of the season. Quarterback Kage Danker ran for 235 yards and threw for 277 to pace the Wellston attack.

Cross country: Randall, Coody win again

Meeker’s Riley Randall and North Rock Creek’s Jordan Coody ran to wins at cross country meets Saturday. The defending class 3A state champion, Randall clocked 16:39.10 to win the 2A-3A-4A division at the Oklahoma Baptist University meet, which was held at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee.

Big win for Davenport

The Davenport Bulldogs have opened the season with a 2-0 record after thumping Wetumka 50-8 in their home opener at Bulldog Stadium. Even though the final score was lopsided, Davenport Coach John Greenfield said, “They came out and they thought they were going to win.

McLoud’s High School football suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Bethel Wildcats 41-34, after leading with five minutes to go. McLoud, now 1-1 on the season, travels to rival Harrah Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Redskins’ Coach Rusty Hall said, “This is rival week.

Prague came from behind in the second quarter and beat Stroud, 68-22, to finish the non-district schedule at 3-0. The Red Devils are off this week before heading to Millwood on Sep. 24 to open district play. Both teams came with their offenses revved, with Stroud leading in the second quarter.
