This year’s International Finals Youth Rodeo, which is scheduled for July 10-15, would have marked the 30th year for the event that originated in 1993. But due to the postponement in 2020 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s No. 29 instead. Entries opened on April 1 again this year.

Bond reduced in Meeker case

Bond for a Meeker man facing sexual abuse charges has been reduced and his pre-preliminary hearing scheduled. Two felony charges of sexual abuse with a child under 12 were formally filed April 4 against Jason Stuart Kirkwood, 42.

Finding Easter eggs

Political races develop

Current Treasurer Wendy Magnus did not seek a new term. Several races have developed for political positions in Lincoln County, among them contests for two county commissioners, the district attorney and district judge. There will be contests, too, for the House District 32 seat now held by Rep.

Harold Lee “Hap” Davis

Harold Lee “Hap” Davis passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 6, 2022, at the age of 88. Harold was born to Virgil Lee and Mary Ella Davis on March 16, 1934, in Sparks, Okla.; where he lived until he served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.
