Seven more COVID deaths

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties increased only by seven compared to last week, and new positive cases rose only a little more than 100, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Veteran’s omission

We inadvertently left out a photo of George Frank (Butch) Frisch III from out Salute to Veterans in last week’s edition. Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 113, the most recent report by the OSDH stated. The previous report had that number increasing by 220.

I dropped the needle of my sister’s record player onto the spinning vinyl. There was a crackle, maybe two, then it was the ringing banjo of Earl Scruggs and I was officially and forever hooked.

Honoring Veterans Day

We celebrated Veterans Day a week ago today. Personally, I think it’s one of the greatest holidays there is that this country observes. The nation took time today to honor all the brave men and women who have been, and those who still are, willing to serve their country.

Town Talk

I attended a great meeting last week hosted by Jon Lowry and Lana Shafer of AVEM Health Partners, our local hospital management company. It was a monthly meeting in a series we have been having with regards to an action plan for Stroud.

McLoud approves amendment

McLoud City Council members have approved a budget amendment totaling more than $400,000 and they also took no action on several items during a recent meeting. The budget amendment is to cover income received through several grants.
