30 years in baby’s death

A Lincoln County woman has pleaded guilty and been handed a 30-year prison sentence, admitting she caused the death of her daughter.

Amber Leigh Nicole Ford, who turned 30 years old in August, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Lincoln County District Judge Cindy Ashwood handed Ford a 30-year prison term and recommended two years of post imprisonment supervision.

She also fined Ford $100 and assessed a $100 VCA fine.

The original charge filed against Ford in April of 2018 was first-degree murder. But in April of this year an amended charge of second-degree murder was filed against Ford.

Felony information filed in the case states that between April 5, 2018 and April 12, 2018, Ford caused the death of a minor born in December of 2017. Cause of death was attributed to head trauma and trauma to the child’s upper body.

Ford must serve a minimum of 85 percent of the prison term.
