The end is in sight for the bridge project off Highways 66 and 18 in Chandler
Oklahoma Department of Transportation resident engineer Matthew Helton said, weather permitting, construction is aimed to be completed by May 21.
“Just be patient with us,” he said.
The project started in the beginning of October and has undergone a variety of delays.
The first delay was when too much concrete on the top of the bridge was taken off.
Additional work was added to the project, but Helton said they were able to replace more of the weaker concrete with the latex modified concrete, make the bridge as a whole stronger.
The additional work added an additional $24,000 to the cost of the overall project, bringing the total cost for the project to $524674.67.
The other delay was when the contractors invoked the wintertime suspension clause, which allowed the contractors to stop working during the coldest days of the contract.
Now that the contractors are back at work, they have 24 working days left in their contract to finish the project.
