McLoud wins big

Fresh from a resounding 28-7 road win over Bridge Creek, the McLoud Redskins will honor their senior footballers and cheerleaders as they entertain Douglas Friday night.

It’s senior nigh at Redskin stadium and the kickoff is at 7 p.m.

McLoud Coach Rusty Hall said senior night activities will be held prior to the start of the game. All seniors on the team and senior cheerleaders will be recognized. The McLoud High School band will play at halftime, he said.

“We played much better,” Hall noted, adding, “We played great defense. We had a shutout going until they scored in the last 30 seconds on our reserves.”

The Redskins forced three Bridge Creek turnovers. “We recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass,” Hall said.

McLoud scored on a fumble recovery by Kaiden Cue who scooped up the loose ball and ran 43 yards for touchdown. “That was early in the third quarter and a little bit later he scooped up his second fumble recovery of the period and ran it about 20 yards setting up a TD,” Hall said.

Coby Cardin also intercepted a pass for the Redskins and returned it in the fourth quarter, setting up another score.

After a scoreless first half by both teams, Hall said he put in Hunter Lowe at running back. “We drove the ball 75 yards and he scored on a one-yard TD run. We missed the conversion, so it was 6-0 at that point,” Hall noted.

He said Lowe had eight carries for 54 yards and scored twice in the game. After Cue scored off the fumble to make it 12-0, quarterback Kaden Carl tossed a two-point conversion pass to Cardin and that made it 14-0.

Running back Cirillio Valles carried the ball 22 times for 122 yards, Hall said.
