Town Talk

It is hard to believe this is the last paper for 2021. Stroud experienced many blessings as well as losses. Our community was hit hard this past year with the deaths of too many of our citizens. Let’s continue to remember those families with our prayers and acts of kindness. When you live in a small community, it’s not unusual to be connected even if it’s just in a small way to each family, so grief has long fingers.

The building on the west end of Main that housed Boomer Blinds for so many years is soon going to be a new business. It will be nice to have that building occupied again. John D. Newnam will be opening a new feed and supply store, Town Talk wishes the Newnam’s much success in this new endeavor.

My great-nephew, Lincoln Smalley, was chosen as one of Parkview Elementary’s Students of the Month for December.

He is in Ms. Miller’s Pre-K program and was very proud to receive this honor. Thank you to Principal James Wells and all the Parkview teachers for the positive impact they have on children’s lives and for recognizing their accomplishments.

Thanks again to Bob Pearman and all our city employees for the beautiful job they did decorating Stroud for the Christmas season.

It looked beautiful and I know it was a lot of work – not just putting everything up but then taking it down. You are appreciated.

Let’s continue to remember our local merchants and eateries as we kick-off 2022. I know January and February can be slow months for small businesses, so let’s patronize them whenever possible. Happy New Year to each of you and as always, remember to shop and dine local…………..first.
