Jessica Riggin (above), from the OSU Extension opened the workshop by explaining to students from Stroud, Chandler and Prague high schools that their household budgets would be based on their take-home pay. Each student had a sheet with the basics of gross incomes, taxes withheld, insurance and net pay. Then the students had to visit tables to decide what kind of housing, cars, utilities they could afford.
Below, Lori Vaughn from BancFirst in Chandler was at a table to help students figure out what kind of cars would fit their budgets. Many of them downsized during the process.
