The Meeker Board of Education Monday night approved temporary appropriations for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
School Supt. Jeff Pruitt said General Fund appropriations are $8,133,751, building fund is $116,786 and child nutrition is $284,618.
In re-aligning the board, members decided to maintain their present positions including Ashley Sellers president, Lindel Standlee, vice president, Bret Wood clerk and members Becky Briggs and Josh Elliott.
Without the need for an executive session, the board hired Tommy Williams as custodian/lawn maintenance.
During his report, High School Principal Brad Buxton advised the board that Meeker Band Director Bailey Vaughn has been selected as the Central Area Band Director of the Year.
“He does a great job with our kids,” Buxton noted, in praising Vaughn.
Virginia Pritchard, Meeker Education Center and Alternative Education principal, informed the board, “There are 94 students in K-12 who are taking advantage of the virtual and blended opportunities.”
In other business the board:
Approved a contract with Central Oklahoma School Pictures for the 2022-2023 school year.
Renewed a contract with the Department of Rehabilitation Services Transition School to Work for the 2022-2023 school year.
Adopted a resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for 2022-2023. It also authorizes filling out applications for funding year 2022-2023 and payment of the applicant’s share upon approval of funding and receipt of services.
They approved a contract with the East Central On-Line Consortium Cooperative Agreement with Gordon Cooper Technology Center for the 2022-2023 school year.
