A happy, happy Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is always special and this year once again it was really special.

Our daughter Meghan brought our grandson Liam over on Saturday afternoon so he could spend the night with us. She stayed around for a while that afternoon, too, and we had lunch before she headed back home to Norman.

Her husband, Terry, was working as he had to on Easter Sunday afternoon as well.

This year, although Liam is only a little over 3½ years old, Meghan had a surprise for him when we took Liam home late Sunday afternoon.

There was a fundraiser to drop Easter eggs and Meghan heard about it and wanted to have that done for Liam.

So, sometime in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday morning, the colorful, plastic Easter eggs were spread over Meghan, Terry’s and Liam’s front yard.

We loaded up Liam Sunday afternoon and picked up Pat’s mother Ruth who lives in Shawnee and headed to Norman. Ruth is Liam’s great grandmother and nearly 96 years old.

Liam took a short nap on the way to his home in Norman, but woke up about five minutes before we got there.

As we were pulling into the driveway, we could see the eggs scattered across the front lawn. Meghan met us as we getting out of the car. Once we got Liam out of the car, he came around the front of it and immediately spotted the eggs.

The fun was on!

He started picking up the eggs, one at a time, and shook each one to see if he could hear something. He did all right and he could hardly wait to see what was inside.

Meghan was busy taking video of Liam, Pat and I helped guide him some, and Ruth was watching and laughing with us as he picked up and shook each one. He opened one of them and saw that it was candy inside, so he wanted to open each one after picking it up shaking it.

We convinced him somehow to wait until he picked up all the others, and there were a bunch of them, and take them inside. He was so cute, though, as he went about gathering them up.

Meghan had made him an Easter basket and that was another surprise for him once we got inside.

Even with doing all of this for Liam, Meghan also had cooked Easter Sunday dinner for us. It was delicious of course.

While Meghan was finishing cooking dinner, Liam wanted to go out in his back yard and hide some of those again that he hadn’t opened.

So Pat and I did that with him before we came in and enjoyed that wonderful dinner.

We’re fortunate they live as close as they do, only 35 miles or so away, so we can see and enjoy those kinds of things with him and them.

Unfortunately, a lot of grandparents miss out on those kinds of activities because they live too far away.

This was a great Easter Sunday and it was just priceless!
