Officials at Chandler High School have announced that 11 students earned the prestigious honor of being named Valedictorian of the grad uating Class of 2022. Maintaining a 4.0 or better grade point average were Gannon Blankenship, Annie Brannon, Jessica Brannon, Leah Brannon, Easton Cummings, Aubrey Guest, Delaney Haley, Presley Martzall, Chynna Norton, Shayla Peery and Aubrey Vaughan.
Andrew Alsip, Emily Horn, Caroline McCalip and Kodie Vega were all named Salutatorian for their academic achievement during high school.
Gannon Blankenship
Gannon, the son of Doyle and Taira Blankenship has attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten. He is consis tently listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for making straight A’s and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. In addition to his regular curriculum, Gannon took pre-engineering classes at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla., and completed nine hours of college courses.
He was named Masonic Lodge Student of the Year and was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
Gannon, a 2021 state qualifier in golf, also participated in Postponing Sexual Involvement and Fish Club, which is a Christian Bible study held at school. He participates in his church youth group and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Gannon has also worked several jobs during his high school years. He serves as a soccer referee for the Chandler Soccer Club having officiated over 100 games over a four-year period. He did janitorial work for Chandler Public Schools and course maintenance and grounds keeping for Kickingbird Golf Club in Edmond, Okla. He is currently a cart barn attendant for Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
After high school graduation, Gannon plans to attend college on a golf scholarship with a major in electrical engineering working toward a master’s degree in engineering.
Annie Brannon
Annie, the daughter of Dale and Deborah Brannon, has attended Chandler schools since fifth grade. She took concurrent and online classes through Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla., and Brigham Young University, Salt Lake City, Utah.
She participated in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program and is a member of the Oklahoma High School Honor Society. She was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
Annie was her freshman class vice president and junior class president. She was the State Essay Contest winner for Safari Club International and received the American Legion School Award.
She was involved in CHS athletic programs winning multiple awards. In archery, she was an Oklahoma Western State Champion and Grand State Champion. She placed fourth in the Western National Championships in Salt Lake City and was a three-time qualifier and competitor in both the National and World Championship competitions.
She helped the crosscountry team earn Academic State Champions and was an elementary manager. She also participated in track and field, cheer, basketball and shot gunning.
Her other extracurricular activities included Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She plays the violin and was the junior football homecoming attendant.
Annie has served the community through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a church camp youth leader and the church youth group secretary. She helped out with the Douglas Gym renovation, the Veterans Day Assembly, Relay for Life and other community events.
Following high school, she plans to earn an undergraduate degree in health and exercise science at Brigham Young University before going to medical school at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Jessica Brannon
Jessica is the daughter of Dale and Deborah Brannon and has attended Chandler schools since fifth grade. She completed advanced classes in English, Honors English and Algebra III. She has taken concurrent classes at Rose State College and done independent study through BYU. She is a member of Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and is a three-year Academic Letter recipient.
She participated in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program and was chosen to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors. Jessica served as freshman class president and was vice president of her junior and senior classes. She was a member of the Edmond Stake Youth Committee and youth leader for FCA.
Jessica has earned multiple awards in track and field. She was a seven-time State Qualifier earning runner-up in the 4x400 relay and was named to the Daily Oklahoman’s 2019 Little All-City girl’s track team.
She was involved in CHS Pom helping the squad to achieve Academic State Champions for four years and state champions in jazz and pom for two. She also participated in basketball and shot gunning. She was a manager for football and a cross-country student trainer.
Other extracurricular activities include Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers and student council. She has taken piano for 10 years and received the Breckenridge Repertoire Award.
Jessica’s community service includes cleanup after the 2020 ice storm, renovation of the Douglas Gym and site cleanups through her church. She helped out at the food pantry and with community events such as Special Olympics and Relay for Life.
Her future plans are to major in sports and exercise science at BYU and get a graduate degree in athletic training.
Leah Brannon
Leah is the daughter of Dale and Deborah Brannon and has attended Chandler schools for eight years. She took concurrent and online classes through Rose State College and BYU. A participant in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program, she is a member of the Oklahoma High School Honor Society.
An accomplished athlete, she earned All-State in cross-country and received Best of Tri-County Area Preps Cross Country Award and Scholarship. She was a six-time State Qualifier in multiple track events and was runner-up in the 400-meter race and 4x400m relay. In archery, she qualified to compete in National and World competitions earning third place at the Western National Championships in Salt Lake City.
Leah’s extracurricular activities include softball, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers, Business Professionals of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She received the Breckenridge Repertoire Award for piano.
She has served the community through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a congregational chorister, camp youth leader, Regional Church Youth Committee and as president of the youth group. She participated in Stamp Out Starvation, renovation of the Douglas Gym, Veterans Day Assembly and Relay for Life.
After graduation, Leah plans to pursue a degree in aviation at the University of Oklahoma in Norman to become a professional pilot.
Easton Cummings
Easton Cummings, the son of J.R. and Angela Cummings, has attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was consistently listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for his academic achievement.
He is also in the Oklahoma High School Honor Society and received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence.
In addition to his studies, Easton has been involved in various athletics and other activities. He was on the CHS cross country team and trap shooting team. He was involved in archery and took part in the Agricultural Mechanics Welding Competition.
During high school, Easton was employed by Cactus Tanks and currently works at Walmart. He has been flying since the age of 12 and is working on becoming a private pilot.
He enjoys fishing, hunting, spending time in the mountains, studying history and spending time with his friends and family.
Easton is currently serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Aubrey Guest
Aubrey Guest is the daughter of Angie Vandenbark, Chad Vandenbark and Jeremy Guest. She has maintained a spot on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for all four years of high school. Her academic achievement has enabled her to graduate one year early.
Aubrey has been a part of the Chandler Schools Gifted and Talented Program for most of her education - nine out of 13 years. She is a two-year member of the CHS Academic Team.
Her future plans are to study zoology at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Delaney Haley
Delaney Haley is the daughter of Ryan and Shelley Haley. Attending Chandler schools since prekindergarten, she has taken four years of advanced classes in English and a concurrent college class through Rose State Community College, Midwest City, Okla.
She is a member of both the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and earned the Academic Excellence Award for four years. She was chosen to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors and was an Oklahoma Girls State delegate.
Delaney has shown leadership capabilities while serving as president of the CHS chapter of National Honor Society and the Lincoln County Dairy Club. She was a Student Council Representative for three years and junior vice president of the OK Jersey Cattle Club. She is a recipient of the American Youth Leadership Danforth I Dare You Award.
During nine years in 4-H Club, she earned multiple honors including Oklahoma 4-H Citizenship Washington D.C. Focus Delegate, Lincoln County 4-H Hall of Fame Finalist, Oklahoma 4-H Dairy Project Scholarship winner, Oklahoma 4-H Advanced Agriculture Scholarship finalist and Lincoln County 4-H Outstanding Junior Member.
Delaney was a Top Five Medalist in Conference Golf for two years. Her other extracurricular activities were basketball, Future Farmers of America, Positive Peers, Postponing Sexual Involvement and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Through her church, she was a crew leader for Vacation Bible School and served on the First United Methodist Church youth council.
Following graduation, she plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in nursing working toward a career in pediatric nursing.
Presley Martzall
Presley Martzall is the daughter of Edie Martzall and the late Chaiyo Martzall. She has attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten taking advanced classes in English for five years. She is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society, chosen as a delegate for Oklahoma Girls State and selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
She was December Rotarian of the Month and February Lion of the Month.
Presley has earned an invitation to the Academic Banquet for six years and received Academic Excellence Awards in Geometry, Algebra I & II and Chemistry.
She was a Rotary Youth Leadership Award recipient and was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors. She was most recently named the Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship winner.
Presley was co-captain of CHS Varsity Cheer, qualifying for All-Region and the Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer All-American. She is senior captain in basketball, participated in slow-pitch and fast pitch softball and track. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Her leadership abilities were evident while serving as student council reporter and as a leader in Postponing Sexual Involvement and Positive Peers. She was also involved in Future Farmers of America and Stunt and is a four-year Title 6 Indian National Member.
Presley served the community through the Chandler Community Recycling Program; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America donations; Relay for Life; and the Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce. She collected food for the food bank and gifts for those in need at Christmas among other service projects.
She has worked at Ms. Edie’s Home Daycare during high school and following graduation, plans to attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman for undergraduate schooling, majoring in Nursing and Pre-Med Science. Her goal is to attend nurse anesthetist school to become a Pediatric Nurse Anesthetist.
Chynna Norton
Chynna Norton, the daughter of Nan and Ervin Norton, has attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten. She holds a 4.0 grade point average while taking advanced classes in English for five years and a concurrent college class in Algebra at Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla.
Her efforts have earned her an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years and an Academic Letter. She achieved Academic Excellence in Child Development, Geometry, Advanced Placement English III and Chemistry. She participated in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Chynna was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors and was invited to attend the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Senior Night. She was the March Rotarian of the Month and the 2022 CHS Prom Queen.
Her leadership abilities were evident while serving as secretary for both her junior class and Student Council. She twice attended the leadership conference of the Oklahoma Association for Student Councils.
Chynna was a fouryear member of Future Farmers of America and served as a manager for CHS Cheer, track and basketball. She was involved in Positive Peers, Postponing Sexual Involvement and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Her community involvement includes food drives, community events and raising money for Relay For Life. She showed care for military veterans by delivering Christmas cards and singing carols at the VA hospital, serving at meals honoring them and making posters for the Veterans Day Parade.
Among other occasions throughout the year, Chynna sought to bring joy to others by packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child, adopting three children for Adopt a Child for Christmas, wrapping donated gifts for the Angel Tree project, and making Christmas cards for residents in the nursing home.
After graduation, Chynna plans to continue her education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Shayla Peery
Shayla Peery is the daughter of Fred and Kristi Peery. She has attended Chandler schools since kindergarten. She took three years of advanced classes in both English and Math and a year of concurrent classes at Rose State College. She earned an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years and is a member of National Honor Society.
A participant in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program, Shayla was a 2021 Oklahoma Girls State delegate and was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors. She received the State Superintendent Award for Arts Excellence. She was April Lion of the Month and April Rotarian of the Month.
Shayla has earned multiple awards while involved in choir including High School All-State Choir for two years and selection for the South Western Regional Honor Choir comprised of students from seven states. While participating in Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association contests, she earned superior ratings at the state level for two years as a vocal soloist and for one year in the ensemble contest.
Shayla is also an accomplished athlete qualifying for state competition in cross-country, track and girls powerlifting. She played basketball and served as a manager for football and basketball.
Other extracurricular activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Positive Peers; Postponing Sexual Involvement; Drama; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and Cheer.
She has been involved in the community through Relay for Life and Special Olympics. She helped clean the memorial garden at the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History and honored veterans by singing at Veterans Day events and the VA Hospital.
Shayla has been accepted to study at The College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo., which has a 10 percent acceptance rate. She plans to major in vocal music performance working toward a career as a vocal performer and to glorify God with her gift. She wants to get a record deal and perform in country, contemporary Christian or musical theater performance.
Aubrey Vaughan
Aubrey Vaughan, the daughter of Jack and Lori Vaughan, has attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten. She took advanced classes in English and Algebra III. She takes concurrent classes in College Algebra and Composition I through Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla.
A member of both the Oklahoma and National Honor societies, Aubrey is a nine-year participant in the CHS Gifted and Talented Program. She has earned an invitation to the Academic Banquet for three years and was chosen to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors. She was October Lion of the Month and January Rotarian of the Month.
Her leadership abilities are evident as she served as Pom captain and was selected to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Camp. She was treasurer for her sophomore, junior and senior classes.
A four-year member of CHS Pom, she helped the squad earn Academic State Champions three times and was Jazz State Champion for two years. Aubrey has also been involved in dance for 10 years.
She participated in Prom Committee, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Aubrey was involved in the community through the Chandler Ice Cream Festival, Pom Kids Clinic and Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church.
She served as a camp counselor at Camp Copperhead in Chandler and works for Ball Auction Service as an auction clerk.
Aubrey has been accepted into Oklahoma State University’s Honor College. She plans to major in finance at Spear’s School of Business at OSU in preparation for a career as a Chief Financial Officer of a mid-sized or large corporation.
Salutatorians Andrew Alsip
Andrew “Drew” Alsip, the son of Andy and Kathi Alsip, attended Chandler schools since prekindergarten. He has been a student at the Pre-Engineering Academy at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla., since 2019. He takes concurrent classes in Calculus I at Seminole State College in Seminole, Okla.
He is a member of both the National Technical School and National High School Honor Societies. Regularly listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, he earned an Academic Excellence Award for Advanced Placement English III and the President’s Award for Education Excellence.
Drew serves as historian of the SkillsUSA chapter at GCTC and was a participant in the GCTC Quiz Bowl. He was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
A member of the CHS Chess Club, he took third place at the Oklahoma Scholastic Blitz Chess Tournament.
Drew helps his community by assisting the elderly with household jobs and lawn care and helping pick up litter around the area. He distributed treats for Main Street merchants at Halloween.
Following graduation, Drew will attend Oklahoma State University in Norman to obtain a degree in electrical engineering and secure a good job near Oklahoma.
Emily Horn
Emily Horn is the daughter of Brian Horn and Emily Horn. She has attended Chandler Schools since prekindergarten. Her academic achievement has earned her an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years. She is consistently listed on the Superintendent’s honor roll.
As a cross-country athlete, she was named Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Academic Allstate for two years. She was also involved in track and field.
Emily has taken concurrent classes at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee and has completed certification as an emergency medical responder, phlebotomist, health unit clerk, medication aide and medical coder. She is a two-year member of National Technical Honor Society and earned the Professionalism Award for Health Careers.
A member of Health Occupations Students of America, Emily achieved the gold level in workplace readiness and second place in the state for HOSA job interviewing skills.
Following graduation, Emily plans to continue her education at GCTC to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing degree while completing basic classes online through the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Once completing both courses, she plans to merge into the UCO Registered Nursing Program to earn a Bachelor of Nursing in Science degree with the goal of working in an emergency room.
Caroline McCalip
Caroline McCalip, the daughter of Greg and Billie McCalip, has attended Chandler schools since preschool. She maintained a 3.98 grade point average while taking four years of advanced placement in Honors English. Her academic achievement has earned her an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years. She received an Outstanding Achievement Award for speech.
Caroline was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors and was an Oklahoma Girls State delegate. She is a member of both the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies. Her leadership abilities were evident while serving as vice president of her school’s NHS chapter, varsity cheer captain, freshman class president and sophomore vice president.
Other awards include All Region Cheer, January Lion of the Month, October Rotarian of the Month and eRYLA Ray of Sunshine Award recipient.
Caroline was a varsity Cheer captain, boys basketball manager and on the golf team. She was also involved in Student Council, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Her service to the community includes serving pancakes for the football team and hot dogs for scrimmaging football teams. She volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce Crawfish Boil, Relay for Life and the Ice Cream Festival.
Since 2020, Caroline has worked for White Valuation Services in Chandler. Following graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in business marketing at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Kodie Vega Kodie Vega, the daughter of Eric and
Kodie Vega, the daughter of Eric and Reinee Smith, has attended Chandler schools since third grade. She maintains a 3.98 GPA while taking advanced classes in English and concurrent classes in American Government and American History through Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
She also took concurrent classes in English Comp I and II and College Algebra through Rose State College, Midwest City, Okla. Kodie completed Chemistry, Pre-calculus and Physics classes at the Pre-Engineering Academy of Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla., earning a 4.0 GPA.
She is a member of both the National Society of High School Scholars and the National Technical Honor Society and was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.
Kodie was named All-Conference, All-Regional and All-District in fastpitch softball. She was named Offensive Most Valuable Player at the Cushing Fastpitch Softball tournament.
Her other extracurricular activities include archery and cross-country. She was named a National Academic Archer and helped Chandler win the Class 3A Cross-Country Academic Championship in 2018.
After graduation, Kodie plans to attend the Honors College at Oklahoma State University with a major in biology-premedical sciences. She will be involved in the OSU Reserve Officers Training Program.
