Special county meeting

Lincoln County commissioners, during a special meeting this week, awarded a bid for construction of the west wall and the stem wall at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

They also formed a committee for a possible courthouse remodel and jail expansion.

District 3 Commissioner Lee Doolen, who is chairman of the commission, said a total bid of $49,363 was awarded to Buoy Brothers Construction on the Fairgrounds project.

Commissioners also voted to form a committee on the possible remodel and jail expansion.

He explained the committee will consist of a representative of the commissioners’ office, the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, Virgil Wilson who is facilities manager and someone from the private sector.

Doolen said in other business, budget figures from individual county offices for the coming fiscal year were reviewed but there was no action.

Commissioners will hold a regular meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, June 20, and a special joint meeting with the County Excise Board at 9 a.m. on June 22. Both will be in the commissioners conference room at the Courthouse.
