McLoud City Council: ‘clean it up or we will’

McLoud City Council members have voted to give the owners of two properties 30 days to clean them up or the city will at their expense.

City Manager Buck Day said he was authorized to write letters to those owners of property at 602 W. Hinchley and 1 Sue Lane in McLoud stating from the time they receive the letter they have 30 days to get them cleaned up and if they don’t do it the city will, then will place a lien on their property.

Separate public hearings were held about the properties before the Council members voted to take those actions.

Council members also accepted a low bid of $42,920 from Harrison Construction Co. of Choctaw for improvements to the lake dock float system.

The city manager explained the work on the system includes replacing all floats under the dock and boathouse and under the walkways. Day said the only other bidder was a company from Eufaula.

To pay for the improvements, the Council approved a budget amendment of $42,920.

The Council authorized Day to conduct a salary and benefits report comparing McLoud Municipal employees salary and benefits to similarly positioned municipal government employees.

He was also instructed to implement an employee engagement and satisfaction survey and report.

The Council members terminated a contract for legal services with J. Brent Clark and in their vote requested a refund of unearned fees.

Day said Clark was hired earlier this year to work on a proposed TIF District in the area of I-40 and McLoud Road and had done nothing since the contract had been approved.
