All in a night’s work

It was a typical weekend for Jerry Tyler.

Typical, but hardly routine. A bullfighter from Claremore, Jerry worked the rodeo in Bartlesville on Thursday, then the Chandler Open Rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights.

He earned his paycheck at Chandler by dashing in to extricate cowboys who’d gotten in a bad way with the bulls they were trying to ride, and by entertaining the crowd. Once the cowboys were out of danger, he’d engage the bulls in a little one-on-one, usually getting close enough to put his hands on the bulls’ horns.
