Trial continued in manslaughter

The jury trial for an Ada woman facing a first degree manslaughter charge in a fatal traffic collision that killed a Prague man nearly two years ago has been continued again.

Formal manslaughter charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Apr. 21, 2021 against Haley Jordan Price, then 30, of Ada, who also was charged with feloniously driving while under the influence of alcohol.

District Judge Cindy Ashwood had scheduled Price’s jury trial for June’s jury docket. During a disposition docket prior to the scheduled trial, Price announced she had new legal counsel. The judge granted her request for a continuance until Oct. 17.

Last week, during a jury trial sounding docket, Judge Ashwood denied Price’s motion to dismiss and she heard other motions that she said the court reserved ruling on until time of trial.

Judge Ashwood has now scheduled Price for the felony disposition docket at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 17, 2023 and her jury trial for 9 a.m. on Feb. 6 of the new year. The judge set the case for a discovery conference at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 13 this year.

During an arraignment earlier this year, Judge Ashwood also received Price’s not guilty pleas and advised her of her rights and that it was an 85 percent crime.

In November of 2021, following the conclusion of her preliminary hearing, Price was bound over to stand trial.
