The Lincoln County Junior Livestock Show that began earlier this week continues today and Friday and the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show starts next Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The Lincoln County Junior Livestock Show started Monday morning at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Chandler with judging of the dairy cattle at 11 a.m. and concludes Friday evening with the Premium Auction.
Kellie Warne, Lincoln County Fair Board Clerk, said around 400 total animals are entered for the show.
The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show starts on Tuesday at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee with the judging of sheep followed by goats and the show will also conclude on Friday with the annual Premium auction.
At the Lincoln County Show, swine judging took place on Tuesday morning.
The sheep and goats were judged on Wednesday.
Today, the beef show is scheduled starting at 1 p.m. The OKC beef fitting and grooming contest will begin 30 minutes following the livestock judging contest.
The premium auction, which concludes the show, starts at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show starts at noon on Tuesday with the sheep judged first, then the goats.
Suzanne Gilbert, chairman of the PCJLS Committee and Randy Gilbert, who is PCJLS show chairman, said that about 500 animals have been nominated for the show.
The breakdown includes about 100 sheep, 50 goats, 100 beef animals and 250 swine.
On Wednesday morning starting at 10 a.m., the beef show will begin.
The swine show is on Thursday starting at 11 a.m.
