Town Talk

If you’re reading your paper on Wednesday, April 5th, then it’s your lucky day. The American Legion Auxiliary is holding a Facebook Live bake sale tonight. This event will take place from 6:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. All you do is go to the Auxiliary’s page on Facebook and bid on any item you’d like to purchase. You leave your bid in comments and the name of the item on which you are bidding. If someone out bids you on an item, just place another bid. It’s just like attending an auction but you will be attending virtually. The winners will be announced as soon as we get them tallied after 7:00 p.m. We will deliver to you that evening or you may stop by the Legion Hut and pick up your item. Things currently going on the auction block are white chocolate dipped red velvet cake balls, apple cake, banana nut bread, strawberry nut bread, cherry nut bread, lemon bread, apple pie, cherry pie, peach pie, pecan pie, chicken pot pie, spaghetti sauce, blueberry muffins and triple chocolate bundt cake. Hope to see you on the “web” Wednesday night!

The American Legion and Ameri-1st Legion meeting. You may purchase tickets at Newnam’s Feed and Supply, Stroud Dry Cleaning, True Value, Unique Market and Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts. You may also call me at 918-527-9833 or Commander Mike Horwath at 254338-3418.

Town Talk Table Trivia Night is back and will be held on Wednesday, April 19th beginning with dinner at 6:00 p.m. and trivia starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and we are kicking off the return of trivia with our ever-popular baked potato bar. Game Master Larry is busily writing questions for the evening so be ready for some brand-new trivial information. Town Talk member and friend Cathy Terry was always our potato baker, and she will be missed. Alan and Rachel Geiger were faithful attendees and they have moved to Shawnee. They, too, will be missed. This game is not individual play; we answer questions together as a team. Come enjoy some food, fellowship and fun.

Thank you for donations we received this week from the Class of 1958, Chris Hodge, Raphe and Andrea Thompson and Dr. and Mrs. Conrad Markert. Everyone’s support has been overwhelming, and we are anxiously awaiting his arrival. We will be planning a formal dedication in May.

Easter is this Sunday and our merchants and restaurants have everything you need to meet your holiday needs. Thank you for continuing to shop local……first. The even better news is that Stroud is a community full of wonderful Christcentered churches that will be open on Sunday to meet your spiritual needs. Take time to remember the true meaning of Easter. The Lord is risen, He is risen indeed!
