The Chandler Board of Education this week hired a new high school principal, swore in a newly appointed board member and accepted the resignations of several people.
School Supt. Scott Baade said the board hired Geoff Metheny as high school principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Metheny is currently the Middle School Principal and Athletic Director.
Doug Bridge was administered the Oath of Office as a board member. In March, the board appointed Bridge to fill the Office No. 1 seat for the remainder of this year replacing Tony Jarvis, who resigned from the No. 1 seat recently.
Baade explained Bridge will need to file for election during the filing period in December if he desires to continue serving on the board. That will mean Chandler has two board seats up in 2024, he has said.
Board members also hired Linda Brown as cafeteria manager.
They authorized Baade to hire eight cafeteria staff workers. Baade said the school district is going back to having its own employees for the cafeteria in 2023--2024 rather than contracting it out as they have been.
The following resignations were accepted: Christine Greenfield, Reading Specialist; Laura Keefover, choir teacher; Lee-Roy Milburn, bus driver; Lori Smithey, Park Road teacher; Jaden Green, Title VI tutor; Shannon Smith, East Side Administrative Assistant; Karis Schevetto, East Side Aide; Misty Barnett, East Side Aide; Melby Maston, East Side Aide; Amy Sanchez, Para Professional; Christian Moody, Custodian/Maintenance.
In other business, board members: Approved a bid for property and library insurance for the 2023/2024 school year, for coverage beginning April 12, 2023.
Agreed to a service contract for Jacie Fite for Physical Therapy services for the 2023/2024 school year.
Approved an agreement with Janice Gray for psychometric testing and consultation services for the 2023/2024 school year.
