If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, the Lincoln County Fair will be happening August 24th – 26th. There will be a horse show, live music and all-day activities on Saturday. The Stroud Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 4-man scramble golf tournament on September 18th. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a poker run during the tournament. The title sponsor is BancFirst. The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Bristow Softball Field. The show will take place at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 22nd. Bristow FOP Lodge #141 is sponsoring the event.

Town Talk offers condolences to the family of Richard (Rick) Masquat and Mary Alice Scott Goard. Rick lost his battle with cancer on August 18th. Services were held Monday, August 21st at the Sac and Fox Chapel. Rick graduated from Stroud with the Class of 1978. Stroud graduate Class of 1966 Mary Alice Scott Goard, died on July 11, in Virginia. Mary Alice was the daughter of George and Gladys Scott. She was the niece of Betty Haines who was my neighbor when I was a youngster and lived on 8th Street. I would often visit with Mary Alice on Betty’s front porch.

Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66 will remain closed this weekend due to the continued excessive heat warning for Stroud. We will reopen for Labor Day weekend with new Fall hours. Those will be printed in this column in next week’s paper.

Don’t forget to stop by Patton’s Produce on the east end of Main Street and check out their fresh produce. You need to get there early because it doesn’t last long. Lyndon and Lisa Patton will be happy to fill a bag for you.
