Trial set in abuse case

A Chandler man facing a felony charge of domestic abuse by strangulation has pleaded not guilty and a trial date has been set. following a reported incident at a Chandler residence has waived his preliminary hearing.

Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court against Bradley Mark Mugele, 39, on Sep. 27, 2022.

He was arrested following a report incident at a Chandler residence.

A $10,000 bond was set for Mugele and he made his initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.

On June 23, before Special Judge Emily Mueller, he waived his preliminary hearing.

Appearing before District Judge Traci Soderstrom for his arraignment, Mugele pleaded not guilty. She received the plea and set the cause for the felony disposition docket on Jan. 16, 2024 and jury trial at 9 a.m. Feb. 5, 2024. She scheduled him for the jury call docket on Jan. 23, 2024.

Mugele is accused on Sep. 7, 2022 of strangling or attempting to strangle Stevie Mugele, his wife at their residence.

Chandler Police Lt. Dax Phipps, in a probable cause affidavit, reports he was notified about a domestic assault and battery incident on Sep. 7.

He met with the alleged victim, Stevie Mugele at the police department and he stated that she was upset and crying.

Phipps reported the victim detailed the alleged strangulation and she told Phipps she also wanted to file a Protective Order against Mugele which a Project Safe advocate assisted her in doing.

Court records show Judge Mueller issued an Emergency Protective Order against Mugele.
