Bond issues fall

Voters in the McLoud and Luther School districts rejected school bond propositions recently.

In the McLoud School District, voters were deciding on two propositions and those in the Luther School District had a single bond issue.

In both districts the bond issues required 60 percent of those voting to be in favor in order to them to pass.

McLoud district voters turned down Proposition No. 1 with 52.01 percent or 364 in favor while 324 or 47.09 percent opposed it. It totaled $18,475,000 and was to be used with or without other funds to provide funds for the purpose of improving or acquiring school sites, constructing, repairing, remodeling school buildings and acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Proposition No. 2 totaled $1,100,000. Those in favor numbered 385 or 55.72 percent and 306 or 44.28 percent voted against it. It was to provide funds for the purpose of acquiring transportation equipment, including auxiliary transportation equipment. It could also have been used for lease purpose arrangements.

Luther school district voters had the one proposition and it totaled $43,210,000. Figures show 465 or 57.55 supported the issue while 343 or 42.45 percent were not in favor.

Had it passed, it was to be used for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings and acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites.
