Thanks again to everyone who donated money to purchase a wreath to honor our veterans at Stroud Cemetery this Christmas. Volunteers picked up the wreaths this past Sunday and Town Talk appreciated their help very much.
Those volunteering were Lynn Carter, Carl and Diana McGuire, David Carroll, Donnie and Elaine Buerger, Keith and Sue Ann Prater and Julie Bivin. We have them stored and ready to use next year.
Stroud graduate Class of 1971 Terry Willingham passed away Saturday in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Terry was married to another Stroud graduate Beverly Chapman.
Terry was the son of Kenneth and Helen Willingham and brother to Jackie, Mary, Fay, and Janet. Terry and Jackie were both football players under Coach Bert Graham and my brother Bruce and cousin Tom Miller played alongside them.
These guys along with their teammates won the football State Championship back-to-back in 1969 and 1970. Those were exciting times for Stroud football and the Willingham boys were a big part of those teams.
Stroud lost another long-time resident Sunday when Carl Mason lost his battle with cancer. Carl was married to Stroud’s famous pie baker, Vi Mason. He was the father of Diana Stobaugh and Greg and Curtis Mason. Town Talk offers condolences to both the Willingham and Mason families.

I had lunch this past weekend around 1:00 p.m. in Stroud and things were a little quiet. I asked our server how business had been, and she said, “A little slow but things are always a little slow this time of year.”
I remember my dad saying the same thing when he was in the restaurant business. Let’s do our best to shop and dine local this month and help our local businesses during these cold winter days.
