Lincoln County Rural Water District No. 3 received a $1 million grant from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) on Oct. 15. The funds will be used to improve the district’s water infrastructure, according to a press release from the OWRB.
The district will move forward with an expansion of its water distribution system to accommodate growth in the area. This includes building a new booster pump station and installing about 780 feet of two-inch waterline, 5,300 feet of three-inch waterline, 4,036 feet of six-inch waterline and 5,586 of eight-inch waterline, the OWRB said.
The grant is fully funded by the OWRB’s American Rescue Plan Act grant program to make sure that the system is prepared for future demand and improved reliability. District customers will save an estimated $1.5 million compared to traditional financing, said Lori Johnson, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division.
The grant program, overseen by the OWRB with funding from the Department of the Treasury, has been structured to provide communities and other eligible entities with financial resources to address water and wastewater infrastructure needs, the press release said.
