Wellston students place at AFR

    Three students from Wellston placed at this year’s American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Central District Speech Contest in Tecumseh on Nov. 11.

    Senior Josie Murray placed first in Senior Agribusiness, Paige Keeling placed fourth in Intermediate Agriscience, and senior Kaden James placed fifth in Senior Extemporaneous. Murray will continue to compete at State, according to a press release from the AFR.

    Nearly 500 students will compete in the district contests this year, with more than 160 finalists expected to advance to State. That competition will be held on Dec. 7 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
