A woman from Meeker and a Shawnee man, each charged with three felonies, and who previously pleaded innocent to all the counts, have now pleaded guilty all of the charges.
Eachdreweitherdeferred or deferred and suspended prison sentences.
Megan Marie Nash, 32, Meeker and Jonathon Lee Nice, 36, were each formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with child abuse on Sep. 22, 2023.
Nash was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 19, 2024 with child neglect, a felony, and intimidation of witness, a felony.
Nice was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 19, 2024 with two counts of child abuse.
A$50,000 bench warrant for each of them was issued for their arrest on the 2024 charges.
Court records show the warrants were returned and filed on March 25, 2024.
Nash, appearing before District Judge Sarah Bridge on the 2023 child abuse case, and upon the state’s recommendation as a result of a plea bargain, withdrew her previous plea and entered a guilty plea. The plea was received and Judge Bridge found Nash guilty as charged.
She deferred sentencing for a period of seven years, handed her a $100 judicial assessment, $100VCAand court costs and ordered her sentence to run concurrent with the child abuse and intimidation of witness sentences, pay 991 fees, perform 24 hours of Community Service and to follow custody case orders as to contact with the victim.
Judge Bridge placed Nash on Supervised Probation with Oklahoma Court Services and ordered her to report to the Probation Office and Court Clerk’s Office.
Regarding the 2024 case, appearing before Judge Bridge, upon the state’s recommendation as the result of a plea bargain, Nash withdrew her previous plea and pleaded guilty.The plea was received, Judge Bridge found her guilty as charged andonthechildabusecount deferred sentencing for seven years, assessed her a $100 fine, $100 VCA and court costs.
On the Intimidation of witness count the judge deferred sentencing for seven years, handed her a $100 judicial assessment, $100 VCA and court costs and ordered the two deferred sentences to run concurrent with each other and with the child abuse sentence, pay 991 fees, and perform 24 hours of Community Services.
Judge Bridge ordered Nash to follow custody case orders as to contact with the victim and placed her on Supervised Probation with Oklahoma Court Services. She is to report to the Probation Office and the Court Clerk’s Office.
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble prosecuted the case and Nash’s defense attorney was Troy Officer.
Nice, appearing before Judge Bridge in the 2023 case, as the result of a plea bargain on the state’s recommendation withdrew his previous plea and pleaded guilty. The plea was received and Judg Bridge found Nice guilty as charged.
She handed him a sevenyear suspended sentence in the Department of Corrections, $500 fee, $50 VCA and court costs and ordered the sentence to run concurrent with the sentences in the 2024 case which included two additional charges of child abuse.
He is to pay 991 fees, perform 24 hours of Community Service, and to have no contact with the victim except what is allowed in the custody case. She placed him on Supervised Probation with Oklahoma Court Services. He is to report to the Probation Office and the Court Clerk’s Office.
Appearing before Judge Bridge in the 2024 case, on the state’s recommendation as the result of a plea bargain Nice withdrew his previous plea and pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse.
The plea was received and Judge Bridge found Nice guilty as charged. She sentencedhimonCount1to seven years in DOC with all time suspended, a $500 fee, $50 VCA and court costs.
On Count 2, she sentenced him to seven years in DOC with all time suspended, $500 fine, $50 VCA and court costs and ordered the sentences to run concurrent with each other with the 2023 child abuse sentence, pay 991 fees, perform 24 hours of CommunityService,andhe is to have no contact with the victim except what is allowed in the custody case.
Judge Bridge placed him on Supervised Probation with Oklahoma Court Services, and ordered him to repot to the Probation Office and Court Clerk’s Office.
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble prosecuted the case and Nice’s defense’s attorney was Craig Webb.
Nash was charged with child neglect by between Sep. 1, 2023, and Jan. 24, 2024 of neglecting three children, one three years old, another 7 and the third 10 by failing to protect them from the physical abuse caused by Jonathon Lee Nice.
The intimidation charge against her alleged between Jan. 8, and Jan. 21, 2024, she feloniously threatened physical harm to two of them who were endorsed witnesses by reading to the victims the probable cause affidavit from the previous felony filed against her in Sep. 22, 2023 and telling them they would be punished if they testified.
Nice was accused between Sep. 1, 2023 and Jan. 24, 2024 of striking the three-year-old and throwing him to the ground.
He also allegedly between Jan. 1 and Jan. 24 of maliciously grabbed the seven-year-old’s arm and pushing him..
Supplemental information filed by Assistant District Attorney Lori Mc-Connell shows that Nice was convicted on May 5, 2021 in Pottawatomie County District Court with felony Domestic violence by Strangulation.
