The Stroud City Council voted to accept a 2024-2025 Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant to replace waterlines at the Service Plaza on Turner Turnpike and Briarwood Housing north of the plaza in its monthly meeting on Feb. 13.
The grant will be used to replace the current 6” waterline with 10” waterline. The motion passed unanimously. The Council also accepted Stroud Planning Commission recommendations to create a Non-Standard Housing Overlay District in some areas of Southside Addition. They directed City Attorney Jim Hodgens to create an ordinance creating the district.
Grant Administrator Leslie Welbourn reported on the status of the Oklahoma Route 66 Revitalization Grant. She’s submitted five grants for the City of Stroud and two have been put on hold by the federal government. She hasn’t received any notifications on the Assistance to the Firefighters Grant application or the Pro Housing application.Additionally, she has submitted a T-SET Environmental Construction Grant to improve Fosters Park.
Other motions include setting the date for Cleanup Week for March 24 to 28, approving the replacement of a billboard sign on Harold Coffman’s property, approving FY2024-25 line transfers, and approving an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and Stroud Police Department.
