By Mike McCormick Staff Writer A pair from Edmond, charged with five felonies each, have each pleaded innocent to the charges and their cases have been set for a felony disposition docket in April.
WhitneyNicoleAkins, 34, and Anthony De-Shawn Holman, 36, each face charges of first degree burglary, kidnapping, possess firearm during commission of a felony, assault with intent to commit a felony and pattern of criminal offenses.
Special Judge Emily Mueller set bond for each at $100,000 with each defendant to have no contact with the victim and no firearms as a condition of the bond.
Bothappearedrecently before District Judge Sarah Bridge for status conferences. The judge has continued their cases to the felony disposition docket at 9 a.m. Apr. 29, 2025.
Appearing for their arraignment on Dec. 3 before District Judge Sarah Bridge, each pleaded innocent. The judge received each of their pleas.
Formal charges were filed against Akins and Holman in Lincoln County District Court on Sep. 24, 2024.
Count 1, first degree burglary, accuses Akins and Holman on Sep. 19, 2024 of breaking and entering into the dwelling house occupied and in possession of John Want located on East 1008 Road, Harrah of forcibly entering through the front door of the house and entering without Want’s consent to commit the crime of assault.
In count 2, each is charged with kidnapping. The information alleges on the same day they forcibly seizedWant from his home and confined him to that home on East 1008 Road in Harrah without lawful authority and with the intent to causeWant to be confined and imprisoned against his will.
Count 3 accusesAkins and Holman of possessing a firearm during a commission of a felony on the same day by possessing and using the firearm while breaking and entering into the residence and committing the felony of first degree burglary. The information further states they used a handgun capable of raising in the mind of one threatened with such a device that it was a real firearm.
Count 4, assault with intent to commit a felony, accuses the pair on the same day of striking and choking Want with his hands and with the intent to injure hm with the intent to commit the crime of kidnapping.
In count 5, they are accused of a pattern of criminal offenses on the same day by engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses by committing two or more criminal offenses that are part of the same plan, scheme or adventure and by committing a sequence of two or more of the same criminal offenses not separated by an interval of more than 30 days between the first and second offense, by kidnapping Want in Lincoln CountyanddrivingWant to Oklahoma County.
Lincoln County Sheriff Capt. Larry Stover, one of those investigating the alleged crimes, reported that in checking the records of bothAkins and Holman that both are convicted felons.
Stover, along with LincolnCountyDeputies Gage Elder, Orrin Beckham and District Attorney Investigator Daniel Crisp were involved in the investigation.
