Mattie White, Nicholas Linn and Katie Wright have been named Lions of the Month for September by the Lions Club.
Mattie White is the daughter of Matt and Angie White. She has a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and has taken four years of AP English and concurrent classes.
White has made the honor roll for four years, is the recipient of the Hiland Dairy Scholarship in 2025 and the TOP Go Pro Scholarship, and has won Excellence Awards in Physical Science, Biology, Spanish I, Honors English and History. As a member of the Chandler High School dance team, White helped the team win state in hip-hop and jazz in 2022 and 2023, as well as making Pom Academic All-State in 2022 and 2023. She is also a Mark of Excellence National Dance Champion in 2025.
White was the sophomore and junior class president. She’s been on Student Council for three years and was the Stucco rep for National Honor Society. She is currently the president of the National Honor Society. White attended the Leadership Summit at Camp Cargill in 2025 and travels with Dreamcatcher’s Dance Company to assist dancers around the country.
Her other clubs and activities include PSO, Gifted and Talented, Positive Peers, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Life Church, Switch Youth Group, the manager for cross-country and track and FCA.
White’s community involvement includes helping with the Chandler Powerlifting meet, reading a personal essay at the Veteran’s Day assembly, then serving veterans at the legion hut, serving at the Wise Guy Girl Power Conference, performing skits with Positive Peers at elementary schools, recycling paper weekly with NHS, reading to first graders at East Side Elementary, assisting at vacation Bible school, painting windows on Main Street for Christmas, and volunteering at the Bone and Joint Hospital in OKC and Oklahoma Highway Patrol delivering Easter baskets.
White currently works at Chilly Willy’s Snowcone Stand.
She plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and major in accounting and further her CPA. White also plans to dance on the UCO pom team and try out for the OKC Thunder’s O’city dance crew.
Nicholas Linn is the son of Larry and Donna Linn with a 4.0 GPA. He has taken advanced English for four years.
Linn is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and has won academic awards in science, speech, history, English, physical science, geometry and chemistry. He’s also received the Academic Excellence Award for three years.
Linn has been a Student Council representative for four years and helped lead the PSI retreat. His other clubs and organizations include Positive Peers, Gifted and Talented, National Society of High School Scholars, Yearbook, FCA, Fish Club, Catalyst Youth Group and Powerlifting.
Linn’s community involvement includes giving presentations for PSI, helping with Wise Guy, Girl Power, the Memorial Garden, serving veterans lunch on Veterans’ Day, and helping at the local food pantry.
He currently works at Linn’s Plumbing.
Linn plans to attend aviation school to obtain all his pilot certifications and pursue a career as a commercial pilot.
Katie Wright has won many awards through her involvement with Future Farmers of America (FFA), which is her primary focus. She has placed sixth on the Greenhand Quiz in Bristow, third on the quiz in Ripley, and fourth in the Ripley Regionals, all in 2022. She’s also placed third in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies in 2022, third Creed Speaker in 2023, and selected for FFA Convention Talent 2023, 2024 and 2025. Wright was a member of the firstplace team in Agricultural Communications and the first high individual, and placed fifth in ag policy at NEO, Broken Arrow and Inola.
She’s placed fourth at speech regionals in 2024 and AFR Central Region in ag policy. In livestock showing, Wright has placed fourth in dark cross barrow and fifth in Berkshire barrow at the Davenport Swine Jackpot, along with a number of other awards. She won Breed Champion Dark Cross Barrow, Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog and Reserve Breed Champion Berkshire Barrow, all in 2025.
She has attended the State FFA Convention in 2023 and 2024 and the National Convention in 2024. Wright’s other activities are Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Gifted and Talented, National Honor Society, Positive Peers and PSI.
Her community involvement includes reindeer food with elementary students, and volunteering at Coffee with Heroes, the Chandler Chamber Banquet, Alumni Banquet, multiple dog hunts, an educational conference for fifth graders, a local food pantry and at the Regional Food Bank. She has also read to first graders, weed-eated fire hydrants and cleaned up the streets.
