Lady Lions win late; boys steady

Chandler used a 20-6 fourth quarter to come from behind and beat Stroud Friday night at Homecoming.

The boys team took a less dramatic route, leading throughout and taking a 16-point win.

For the girls, 10-5 and ranked No. 19 going into the 66 Conference tournament, it snapped a two-game streak of low-scoring losses.

Leah Brannon and Morgan Fowble combined for 26 points, with eight coming in the fourth period, to pace Chandler.

Kileigh Mixon had 13 for Stroud, Jadyn Young had 11 and Katlyn Hughey had 10.

Stroud came back Monday night to win the opener in the conference tournament, beating Okemah, 51-48, in overtime.

Chandler played Holdenville on Tuesday.

In the boys’ game, Chandler got off to a 14-9 lead in the first quarter and steadily increased it.

Center Dylan Mahan led the offense, putting in 19 points. Fellow senior Caedon Parris added 11.

The Lions played tournament host McLoud at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Stroud took on top-seeded and eighth-ranked Okemah in the first round Monday night, falling, 62-48.
