Local COVID-19 count keeps climbing

The total number of new confirmed COVID-19 Coronavirus cases in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties has increased significantly over the past week.

The total number of persons testing positive in Oklahoma also has increased during the same time frame.

As of Tuesday, the number statewide stood at 17,220. A week ago it was 13,757. That’s an increase of 3,463, the Oklahoma State Health Department reports. Two weeks ago the number statewide was 11,028.

The OSDH reported on Tuesday 858 more positive cases were confirmed and five more persons had died during the previous 24 hours.

The number of combined positive cases in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties now stands at 158. It was 133 a week ago, a jump of 25. Two weeks ago, the count was 118. There have been 40 more positive cases reported between the two counties in the last two weeks.

Of the 25 additional cases, there has been a jump of 17 in Pottawatomie County and eight more in Lincoln County.

Lincoln County’s total count on Tuesday stood at 36. Last Tuesday, the number was 29.

Two weeks ago Tuesday, there were 28 positive cases in Lincoln County. Two people have died in the county since the outbreak began, the OSDH reports and 29 have recovered.

Pottawatomie County’s total number of people testing positive last week stood at 104. On Tuesday of this week, it was 121, according to the OSDH. Two weeks ago it was 90.

Four persons in the county have died from the virus. Of the confirmed cases, 99 have recovered, the OSDH reports.

Total current hospitalizations in Oklahoma due to the virus stands at 426. Since the outbreak, 1,741 have been hospitalized, the OSDH reports.

The statewide number of deaths on Tuesday attributed to the virus stands at 404. Last Tuesday, it was 387. Two weeks ago, it was 371.
