Live Theatre in Stroud

This is the Sixty-Eighth article in a semipermanent column for Stroud Arts that appears in the Stroud American. The mission of these articles is to inform, educate and inspire you, the reader, to Make Art Happen in your life and the life of our community.

There is nothing so rewarding for an Actor than to perform for a full capacity, or, as we encountered Friday night, an over capacity Audience!

For the Stroud Arts cast of last weekend’s Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre production “The VanDersloan Conundrum,’ it was an exciting evening of plot twists, unexpected revelations and a surprise for the Audience and Cast as the Murderer was revealed!

For the Stroud Chamber of Commerce, host of the event and providers, under the Direction of Celebrity Chef and Stroud Chamber of Commerce President, Kyle Anderson, of the Three Course Dinner, the humongous number of guests were a surprise that was quickly and expertly handled by the quick reactions of the Kitchen Staff and the dedicated members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce!

The largest group in attendance was the Broken Arrow Senior Citizen group, ‘Seniors Go’ who rented their own tour bus with ‘Safari Travel’ and made the MMDT Event the centerpiece of their weekend vacation expedition to Central Oklahoma. They expressed their surprise and immense pleasure regarding the beautifully decorated building and the polite, professional and elegantly dressed servers who are members of the Stroud Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The BA Tour Itinerary had them visiting the Train Depot in Bristow, Sac & Fox Casino in Stroud, the Stroud Arts/Chamber of Commerce

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, lodging at the Cattle Country Motel followed by Breakfast at the Ranch House in Stroud, a tour of GreenLife Planet in Cushing, followed by a performance of ‘The Sweet Delilah Swim Club’ performed at the Cushing Community Theatre.

By Senior Citizen Kay Jenkins taking the initiative to organize the BA groups activities, it demonstrates that people are ready and willing to travel to tour Route 66 into our region and spend their time and money on local activities and amenities if we are ready to give them something to do.

Speaking of which, Stroud Arts is getting ready for our next event on May 15, ‘The Great Stroud Race!’ This is similar to the TV Show, ‘The Amazing Race,’ where teams of Two will travel around Stroud, encounter Physical and Mental Challenges and ultimately cross the Finish Line to win Bragging Rights and a Cash Prize!
