Donald Gene Brown was born to George Antoine and Macel Irene (Shawver) Brown on August 27, 1933, in Geary, Okla. He died Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the age of 86 years.
A 1951 graduate of Geary High School, he held a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Central State University and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Oklahoma.
He was head coach for both baseball and basketball for U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City and for Eastern Oklahoma State College. He also served as head baseball coach at Oklahoma City University and Redlands Community College and was inducted into five hall of fames.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Orlis Reames and his daughter Donita Brown.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Juanita Brown; two granddaughters and their husbands; three great-granddaughters; his brother and sister-in-law Bob and Wanda Brown; and other relatives and friends.
Due to the risks associated with Covid-19, a memorial service will not be held at this time. Condolences can be shared on the website of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler, which handled the final arrangements.
