Raymond “Ray” Mayo Pierson Jr. was born August 22, 1932 in Asher, Okla. He died Thursday, June 4, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 87 years.
Pierson married Bertie Kinchen in 1950 in Stroud. After they divorced, he married Marie Dykes in 1973.
He retired from Shell Oil Company and was an active church member.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Susan Coleman and Irma Howard, both wives and two children, Richard Pierson and Terry Pierson.
Survivors include his sister Betty Brauer of Prague; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sherry Pierson of Lubbock; his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Scott of Owasso, Okla., and Peggy and Tom Griener of Owasso; his daughter-in-law, Penny Pierson of The Colony, Texas; his stepson, Tom Dykes and his wife Kay of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and other family and friends.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Stroud with Pastor James Bond officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel in Lubbock.
