Prague, Stroud at state tournament

Lady Devils make it to semis

Prague’s Lady Devils battled into the state semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Tishomingo last week.

Prague opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over Sulphur. Sulphur took a 1-0 lead in the first and the Lady Devils struggled at the plate until breaking loose for three runs in the fifth.

Karsyn Coleman had a hit to drive in one run and Josi Goodman singled to drive in two more.

After the game, coach Dailyn King said she had no doubts the Lady Devils would get their offense untracked.

“We’ve only been shut out, once early in the season,” she said. “We come through, usually, after one time through the lineup and they don’t seem to have any trouble getting on base after that.

“They’re good at making their adjustments.”

Tessa Cooper got the win for Prague, allowing just four hits and no runs after the first inning.

She struck out four.

Coleman, Goodman, Demi Manning and Adi-syn Auld had hits.

Prague off to a 1-0 lead against Tish in Friday’s semifinal, but the lead didn’t last long.

Tish stroked 14 hits, including a couple of ringing home runs.

Cooper and Beth Denney, who shared pitching duties for the Lady Devils, also had their onliy two hits.

Prague wrapped up the season with a 26-7 record.
