Prague wins 66 tournament

Prague’s girls downed Chandler 40-33 in the finals of the 66 Conference tournament in McLoud Saturday night, recording their third win over the Lady Lions this year.

The win lifted Prague, No. 11 in Class 2A, to 15-2 for the year.

The Lady Lions, now No. 18, sit at 12-6 for the season.

Chandler got off to an early lead, leading 7-5 after one period, thanks to Hannah Vandenbrand’s five-point quarter.

Prague took the lead in the second quarter and never relinquished it, thanks in part to hitting 11 of 24 shots from the foul line in the second half. Chandler was 5-of- 9.

Leah Brannon finished with 13 for Chandler, while Vandenbrand had nine.

Taylor Hodges led Prague with 11 and Diana Manning had nine.

Chandler’s boys won the consolation title after falling to McLoud by a point in the first round.

The Lions beat Holdenville 41-31 in the fifthplace game and had won three of their last four going into Tuesday’s game at Meeker.

Prague’s boys won third place in the tournament, knocking off host McLoud, 57-45.

The Red Devils beat Meeker, 59-57, in the opening round and lost to Seminole, 60-43, in the semifinals.
