Wellston hires two new lay coaches

Chayse Pittman and Nick Long were approved as new coaches during a regularly scheduled Wellston Board of Education meeting held September 9. The board also approved fi nancials and committees.
The new middle school baseball lay coach will be Chayse Pittman. The new high school football lay coach will be Nick Long.


The Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee as well as the advisory plan were approved for this school year. The alternative education plan was approved. Dwayne Danker gave the superintendents
report. He reported on school finance, and said the board had received four of the new propane buses. He also reminded the board of the region seven meeting on October 3.


The high school and middle school principal, Marty Coulson, also gave a report. Coulson gave enrollment numbers, information on the changes to the high and middle schools, and that the ACT testing  election and information for juniors. Elementary school principal, Alisha Wallace, reported on enrollment numbers and software the school has started using.


Emergency transfers, all activity fund fundraisers, estimate of needs, and a request for deregulation for library media services from the Oklahoma State Department of Education were all approved. Financial statements, encumbrances state, and federal funds including August purchase orders for FY20 and sign encumbrance registers for FY20.


General funds warrants 98 through to 266 corresponding claims were signed and approved for a total amount of $407,721.58. Payroll for $302,252.90, and claims for $105,468.68 were approved. Building Fund warrants 1 through four corresponding claims were signed and approved for a total amount of $15,834.35. Claims for $15.834.35 were also approved.


Minutes from the previous meeting were approved. The next regularly scheduled Wellston Board of Education meeting will be October 7.
