We live in a technological world. I get that. It seems technological advances are moving so quickly it’s mind boggling to people like me. Someone asked me several years ago what we did before we had cell phones. He was a person in his 60s and he is a person I’d consider tech savvy.

Congratulations to county voters

It was encouraging to see voters throughout Lincoln County show up last week and approve two propositions. Voters overwhelmingly gave a thumbs up to renewal of the one percent county sales tax for another five years with 78.78 percent in favor of the proposition.

Hunting and fishing has changed so much since I was a kid. Of course that’s been considerably over 60 years. That can probably be attributed to all the various rules and regulations put in place by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation over a period of time.

Next Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. I learned many years ago what needs to be done for this day. I’ve done different things, but there are some basics that have become entrenched in my mind that are a must. One is, order the flowers early. Not just any flowers, but roses.

A couple of years ago I penned in this column that my wife Pat and I certainly wouldn’t be considered any type of bird watchers. That is our knowledge of all the various types of birds is somewhat limited. We had just experienced a historic, major winter snowstorm.
