Town Talk volunteers opened Stroud’s Route 66 Tourism and Visitors Center over the weekend to greet and assist any guests in town. A big thank you to Delores Hamlin, Elaine Buerger, Thelma Mauldin, Jo Braden and Lavina Hinman for volunteering at the Center.

This week, there are flower buds on some of our potato plants, which is cause for a mixed set of responses. First, there are fist pumps because this means there will be new potatoes before long. One of life’s great experiences is a pan of new potatoes, with or without green beans.

1. Update on Glenn Crest Park A. The rental on the pavilion has really been going well. If you want to rent the pavilion for a day for $40.00, you will need to contact City Hall (405) 279-3320 and make arrangements for your next upcoming event. B.

We will commemorate Memorial Day on Monday, May 31st. The American Legion Auxiliary will be putting flags at the cemetery on veterans’ graves Thursday, May 27th beginning at 9:00 a.m. A special thank you to Ken and Celeste Carpenter and Carpenter Insurance for providing the flags each year.

A big thank you to City Manager Bob Pearman and his crew for painting the Foster Park sign. It looks amazing. I’ve been driving by that sign for as long as I can remember and as I’ve said earlier, I think I took it for granted.
