Playoff chase begins

The high school school baksetball play offs kicked into gear last weekend, with Wellston and Davenport bringing home championship hardware in Class A. In addition to classes A and B, 2A, 3A and 4A schools play districts this weekend. Here is this week’s schedule: Boys Class A Wellston v.

Powerlifters win at Bethel - record for Peery

The Chandler boys powerlifting team won the Bethel meet last Thursday and Kalee Peery set an unofficial state record in the squat. Peery squatted 270 pounds, which is five pounds more than the state record of 265 lbs for her weight class.

Dietz second at state meet

Landon Dietz from Chandler, who is pictured at right in the silver position on the awards stand, came in second at the junior high state tournament. A fifth-grader, he wrestled at 72 pounds in the 6th-7th division.
