Can you believe another school year is coming to a close? Wednesday marks the last day of the 2024-25 school year for students and teachers will complete their school year on Friday.

Memorial Day

This upcoming Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be a little different for my wife Pat and me and what we normally we do on it.Pat and I usually visit four cemeteries, two here in the Shawnee area and two more in Oklahoma City.

Joann Page

Joann Page, 79, of Davenport, Oklahoma, passed away on Easter morning, April 20, 2025. Born on January 19, 1946, in Rich Hill, Missouri, Joann lived a life defined by love, family, and faith. She was the beloved wife of Burt Page, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2005.

Weekend

A couple of weeks ago early one Sunday morning, my wife Pat decided it was time to go buy flowers so she could plant them whenever she was ready.My role is helping to go and pick up the flowers, the potting soil and whatever else she thinks she needs.

Mother’s Day

As many of you are aware, this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. I firmly believe it’s a day to honor the women in our lives. The mothers, grandmothers and other women who do so much for us men and our children.

Letters to the editor

White Rock Public School’s board has violated its own policies, Oklahoma State School Board Association (OSSBA) guidelines, and the Open Meetings Act. As a result, seven of the school’s 13 teachers are resigning. No plan has been shared to stabilize the situation, and time is running out.

Thankful for Trump

Thank the Lord that Pres. Trump has the fortitude to force all the countries that have been sticking it to the U.S. for so long on tariffs to come to the table and start to treat the U.S. with respect again. I haven’t had any problems yet from the tariffs (trade war).
