Ginny Myers Sain comes from a family of writers. Her mother is famed young adult (YA) novelist and former Chandler teacher Anna Myers. Her father was a poet. Her younger brother Ben, who still lives in Chandler, was the poet laureate of the state of Oklahoma.

Hearing set in sex abuse case

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for an Agra man facing two counts of child sexual abuse. John David Somers, Jr., 33, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Jan. 4 this year with the two counts.

Three squads from Pott County will be aiming to bring home gold balls from the basketball state tournaments this. The defending state champion Dale girls play at noon Wednesday against Okemah. The two-time defending state champion Dale boys will play Warner at 7:30 p.m.

A Sparks man facing three drug-related felonies has pleaded not guilty and his case is set for the May felony disposition docket.

Chandler, Stroud choirs win district

Music is definitely in the air this spring, with the high school choirs at Chandler and Stroud set to compete at the OSSAA state competition. Both recently competed at districts last week. Chandler received superior ratings for their high school and junior high choirs.

Lincoln County Commissioners adopt resolutions

Lincoln County commissioners this week adopted a resolution for the Use Tax Account for 17 fire departments. They also adopted a resolution for funds from the Use Tax Accrued Interest Account to be used towards construction of an Administration Annex when it’s built.
