Jim Shaw, R-Chandler.Every year, hundreds of juniors and seniors from across the state join in the House High School Page Program at the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City.

The Wellston Lady Tigers made the most of their first trip to the state tournament in 37 years.They kicked off the Class A state tournament with a 9 a.m. game on Wednesday against the defending stare champions, led for more than half the game and took it down to the wire before falling 4237.

Lions fall in area

Chandler’s boys fell a game short of making a repeat trip to the state tournament, falling 56-43 to second-ranked Roland and 48-42 to 9th-ranked Eufaula.The Lions went into the area tournament in the winners’ bracket with a 23-4 and No. 7 ranking, but finished the season with a 23-6 record.
