Lincoln County Commissioners, during a special meeting this week, discussed possible use of Bureau of Indian Affairs funds on bridge replacements in Districts 1, 2 and 3.
Lincoln County Court Clerk Alicia Wagnon said the commissioners are wanting to do a new project with BIA to redo 25 to 30 bridges.
She explained that Don Russell, the county’s engineer, said the money is in the beginning stages.
Wagnon stated that Truman Carter, with the Sac Fox Tribal Nation, is checking into doing a large bridge project that will redo several bridges in each of the three county commissioner districts.
She stressed commissioners took no action during Monday’s special meeting. “It was just discussion,” she added.
Wagnon noted that Carter was going to a meeting on Tuesday of this week to submit the request to the BIA.
In other business, the commissioners approved the Kickapoo Street Project relocation agreement with Oklahoma Natural Gas.
They also opened bids on the construction of the west wall at the Lincoln County Fair Barn.
“One was from Utility Field Services for $115,500 and the other was for $68,400 by Buoy Brothers,” she said.
Wagnon pointed out District 1 Commissioner Carl Munson made a motion to accept the bid by Buoy Brothers, then a short time later rescinded his motion so the Fair Board can discuss the bids and pricing.
